Anyone Ride Alone

Hi,
I'm a newbie to the site & to the sport of Biking.

Currently my dad & I have been riding at local mountain trails every Fridays. But lately he's been busy so I've gone alone on the trails lately. The trails are very safe with bailout trails throughout the ride & is located near campsites. Are there anyone else here that bikes alone?

I know you shouldn't bike alone but it's hard to find other people to bike with. The local bike club has rides there at 8am on Wed [once a month] but I work 7pm-7am so it's hard to get up that early. Any advice?

Hey Victoria,

I know it sounds like a bunch of bull but if you need to ride alone I would just make sure that you have a cell phone and maybe let someone know where and when you are riding.
It is a bit of a different story if you are wanting to “trian” with someone because, well that is hard to do alone!  There is no substitute for being able to ride with several people like riding with several people.
If you are looking for knowledge for how to ride a particuler trial or section of trail I would go to your local Giant dealer and ask the employees for advice on things like that.

Victoria--

Check out the Ride Finder here-- you can post that you’re looking for a riding buddy and maybe even find someone in your community that is also looking to ride in a group.

Good luck,
Tiffany

Victoria,
I have biked alone in the mountains near Calgary, Alberta.
They are well known for bears, a female cyclist was even killed within the last year.
What I rely on heavily is my intuition and I only do short trails, that way if there is trouble, I am not 2 hours into the backcountry.
Of course it is saner and smarter to ride with others.
Ride on!
Janet
