2008 Giant Cypher

So, I bought the 2008 Giant Cypher in a size Medium a couple of months ago and absolutely love it. After coming from a hardtail it has really helped my riding. I just put on the Ergon grips in a size small and then upgraded the rear der. from the Deore to the new Shadow XT which really helped the shifting. The thing is...I also just bought the new 2009 Cypher 1 because of the new Fox 15QR thru-axle. So, point being, if anyone is looking for a like new, upgraded 2008 Cypher I have one for sale. $2,000 new. I am looking for $1600 with the upgrades!

Bottom line is the Cypher is an awesome bike!

Anyone Ride Alone

Hi,
I'm a newbie to the site & to the sport of Biking.

Currently my dad & I have been riding at local mountain trails every Fridays. But lately he's been busy so I've gone alone on the trails lately. The trails are very safe with bailout trails throughout the ride & is located near campsites. Are there anyone else here that bikes alone?

I know you shouldn't bike alone but it's hard to find other people to bike with. The local bike club has rides there at 8am on Wed [once a month] but I work 7pm-7am so it's hard to get up that early. Any advice?

New to the Road

After falling in love with spinning, I decided to take it outdoors. I just bought a TCR W and can't wait to hit the road. BUT - I want to be prepared. Any suggestions on websites that might provide a list of essential items to carry? I can assume a patch kit ,some tools, & a cell phone, but I'm sure that's just the beginning. Also, any "how to" sites for repairing tires/replacing tubes - that sort of thing. I'll take any advice, tips, tricks, etc.

FCR2 Frame Too Small

First, let me begin by stating that even with a long torso your height puts you in the right category for a Small FCR. Of course, proper bike fit is not determined by height alone. A bike frame needs to be as close a reflection of your torso/arm and leg length proportions as possible.
If you push the seat too far back your change the relationship between the hip, knee, foot, and pedal, which may have a negative impact on pedal stroke efficiency. If the top tube is a little too short the better way to correct this is at the stem.
You are correct in thinking that a rounded back is an indicator of poor fit. But it may also be an indication of poor posture. When your hands rest on the bars, you should be able to draw your shoulder blades down the ribs to avoid hunching your shoulders; your spine should be lengthened and relaxed in neutral alignment (all curves present); your pelvis should be slightly tipped to allow the natural concave curve of the lumbar spine.
If you are willing to provide more information in regards to this dilemma, I would be happy to work with you on this further.

Starting Again- Its like I've forgotten how to ride.

Hi ladies. I bought a Giant Sedona a few years back for fitness and wt loss purposes. I rode tons back then and lost a lot of wt but stopped riding. I decided to start back up again and have completely forgotten what the gears are for, what they should be set at for a ride on a concrete trail around our lake, etc. Any resources someone can suggest to me to "relearn" how to ride? Thanks.

fcr2 - frame too small????

I bought an fcr2 size Small last year, but didn't begin riding until this spring. I have all but given up running due to a knee injury, and have really enjoyed cycling these past months.

Recently I began to notice how my butt moves SO far back on the seat - so as not to severely over-arch my back - that my PELVIS is leaning on where my butt should be. The seat has been moved as far back as possible (without an extension), and I look ridiculous. I am 5'5 and 110 pounds, so it seemed likely that a Small would fit me; BUT, I have a VERY long torso, so would that warrant a Medium? I'm terrified that I've spent too much money on a bike that doesn't fit me!!! My back is clearly awkwardly warped if I try to sit with my butt planted properly, and I'm no sage when it comes to cycling, but it definitely seems weird to me. Any ideas??? Will I compromise the bike if I get an extension (if there even IS one)?

FCR W-2009

Hello all! So,I was wondering if anyone knew where to find more information about the 2009 FCR 3W...I'm picking mine up on Thursday and I'd just like some feedback on it. I'm pretty new with cycling, but I got on the 2008 FCR and it was perfect; they just didn't have my size so,I'm picking up the medium 2009 instead!

Any thoughts? Anyone have one already?

looking for someone to ride with in Philadelphia, PA

I am 27 y.o. and I live in manayunk and work in center city. I am looking for people to ride with and for new routes. Since I live in manayunk I ride to valley forge and back mostly, but that is getting boring. The route is almost all flat and I am looking to increase my climbing ability. Any suggestions? OCR C1 for women?

Does Giant make an OCR C1 for women? I'm envying the one listed under the guys' bikes, but wonder if Giant makes a women-specific one. I've been whipping around on my Giant OCR3 for about a month now, after 20 years of not riding, and am in love. I'd like to get a Giant top-of-the-line OCR composite later on.
